Age Categories in Competitive Artistic Swimming
There are two age categories in synchro: junior and senior.
A competitor is classified as senior if s/he: a. has finished in 1st place in two consecutive years in solo or duet, and/or
b. is 13 or over.
A competitor is considered junior if they are under 13 years old. If a competitor is 13 years old and is still competing as a junior, they must include their birth date on their entry form.
Note that a junior-aged competitor may "swim-up" and compete at the senior level, in any of the events: solo, duet or team competition. If they compete in the solo or duet competition they are still eligible to swim junior in the team competition.
In every case, a competitor may participate in either the solo or duet competition but not both. All competitors may be eligible to the team competition.

To be eligible to compete in the Summer Swimmer Synchro Meet, competitors may not have any winter synchro experience at the competitive level, however the competition is open to swimmers in synchro lessons, summer or winter. Please read the ALPS Synchro rules for full details of eligibility.
This competition is open to participants from all 22 ALPS pools, whether or not the pool has a competitive synchro program.
