WHAT:
We are offering a six week Swim Team training which will help children master the four recognized strokes: freestyle, breast stroke, backstroke and butterfly. Then we provide opportunities for them to practice what they have learned by racing their peers.
Our summer league, ALPS, has suspended competition for 2021 so we do not expect any opportunities for racing against other clubs.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE FROM THE POOL:
Children must arrive AT LEAST 10 minutes before the start of practice (7:50am), wearing their swim suits, goggles and caps as well as a face covering and carrying their towel and equipment (*see below). They will enter the deck with their coaches, remaining 2 metres distance from their peers and coaches the entire time. There will not be access to the change-rooms so they will need to be dressed and ready to swim. They will place their towel, bag and any clothing in an assigned area and remove their mask just before entering the pool, placing and sealing it in a Ziploc bag labeled with their name. It is recommended they keep an extra mask in that bag as well. When they exit the water, they will immediately put their mask on and collect their belongings. They will not be able to change out of their wet swimsuits, only towel dry and perhaps put on a sweater or t-shirt. They will then proceed with their coaches in a distanced line, to meet their parents at the gate.

EQUIPMENT*:
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, communal equipment cannot be used. With this in mind and with the knowledge that a kick board is an important tool for swim training, we are asking that all members come to practice with their own personal kick board. There are many options for kick boards available but the best may be purchased at Decathlon or Sports Experts (on-line or in-person) or at one of the on-line aquatics supply companies: All Tides or Team Aquatic Supplies. We ask that these items be well-labeled with your child’s name.
Our on-line boutique, on the AMILIA platform will have clothing items available for sale while quantities last including: team t-shirts, swim caps, swimsuits, hoodies, sweatpants. We will not be re-ordering these items this season so order early to avoid disappointment.
Face Coverings: Children will be required to wear their face mask upon entering and exiting the facility. We recommend that children have an extra mask and since they must remove their mask near the side of the pool and leave it there during the practice, we are recommending that they keep these masks together in a Ziploc bag that is labeled with their name.
We recommend that children wear comfortable swimwear for swim training: training suits similar to the Speedo suits that we offer for sale. For the girls, suits with tank style straps (wide or thin as they prefer) which allow for comfort and ease of movement doing the strokes and turns. For boys, we recommend a jammer or brief style which are more comfortable in swim racing than baggy board shorts which fill up with water and air and cause too much drag. For both boys and girls, we recommend the snuggest possible fit for these suits as it will create less drag.
Swim caps are highly recommended to keep longer hair out of the eyes, the most popular being silicone, but Lycra fabric styles may also be worn, especially for the younger children who are fussy about comfort.
Goggles are highly recommended as they prevent the children from fussing about itchy eyes. Choose a style which allows a snug fit around the eye socket so there is less risk of leakage.
