Welcome to a new season of the Westmount Dolphins!

Welcome to our new members this season!

To our returning and new members alike, we hope you are getting excited and geared up for another great season at the Westmount Pool!  Most of our returning members have registered for the 2016 season but there are still some of you who have not, and fortunately, there are still spaces available in each discipline: swim team, synchro, diving and water polo.  If your child is 10 years old or younger and interested in swim team, don’t delay as these groups are filling up fast!

As you know our main means of communication to you is through our website and through email, so please ensure that you add our email address to your contacts so that our messages do not go into your junk mail.  We have a new email address this season: info@westmountdolphins.org. 

You will also need to set up a free Google account using your family’s current main email address (you do not need to create a gmail address). Follow these simple instructions. All of our sign-up sheets for competitions and activities are done using Google applications.  If you are accessing information from a smartphone, tablet, iPhone or iPad, you will need to download the following free applications to that device that will facilitate these sign-ups:  Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs.  Without a Google account and these apps on your devices you won’t be able to access and edit important information from the club!

Some important dates and events you don’t want to miss:

Wednesday May 25 6pm-8pm Clothing Night, Multi-Purpose Room, Westmount Recreation Center (WRC):  this is your opportunity to try-on and purchase Westmount Dolphins official clothing (except the special synchronised swimming suits, which are custom made later in the season); the deadline for clothing orders is May 29 so don’t miss out!

Saturday May 28 10am-4pm  WESTMOUNT FAMILY DAY, Westmount Park:  This annual event takes place in Westmount Park where the City turns the park into a carnival atmosphere with pony rides, games, thrill rides and food concessions. The Westmount Dolphins set up a Bake Sale each year near the face painting (in the gazebo) where members donate tasty sweet confections to sell and volunteers make sure it all goes well. Sign up to volunteer at the bakesale.  We will also have some clothing items on hand to try-on for those who may have missed Clothing Night.  You can make note of sizes and place your order at home through your Amilia account before the May 29 deadline!

Sunday May 29 Midnight:  Deadline for all clothing orders to be entered into your Amilia accounts. This season there will be only one mass clothing order so you don’t want to miss out!

Tuesday May 31, Deadline for Coach-In-Training (CIT) sign up:  Athletes 13 years old and older who would like to assist with the coaches during practices and at competitions must make a commitment to assist with at least two practices a week and all competitions that they are participating in this summer.  For more information consult our website under the tabs Volunteers/Coaches-in-Training.

Thursday June 2 7:30pm Westmount Dolphins Annual General Meeting (AGM), Multi-Purpose Room, WRC:  The AGM is where we officially review the past season’s financial report and approve the Board of Directors for the new season.  Every member family in good standing (fees paid in full as of May 31, 2016) is permitted one vote and may send any family members who are 18 years old or older to this meeting. 

Pre-season Training Begins Week of June 13:  The pre-season is a Westmount Dolphins tradition which offers our new members and many of our returning members the opportunity to get their feet wet in their sport a bit earlier before the full team starts regular season practice.  These practices are in the evenings.  Consult the Westmount Dolphins Training Schedule on our website.  If your athlete is already practicing their aquatics discipline at a winter club, they may continue their winter training and wait for the start of the Regular Season.

Regular Season Training Begins Week of June 27:  The regular season is when all the practices move to the mornings and our regular schedule will be in effect until August 19.  Consult the Westmount Dolphins Training Schedule on our website.
