This past week has been a busy one for our Westmount Dolphins!

Last Saturday, July 23 our Atom Water Polo players (U10) participated in a tournament at Beaconsfield Heights Pool.  They improved on their performance at this tournament from last season and had a lot of fun!  We look forward to our Bantam Team (U12) having more success and fun this Saturday, July 30 at Valois Pool. Just as in diving, we encourage everyone to participate in the competitions at home and away:  these are a great opportunity for the kids to put what they are learning into practice.  They receive ribbons for their efforts and have times recorded that can help them measure their progression over the summer.  And they have so much fun with their teammates cheering and enjoying the festive atmosphere.  Please sign up for our next meet on August 3 at Windermere.  Check out this photo from last night's cheering session and see more on our Facebook page:

Next week the coaches will be turning the children's  training up a notch with HELL WEEK! On Friday there will be a surprise for the kids: an opportunity to take revenge on their coaches for the tough practices! Stay tuned!

Monday August 1 from 6pm to 7:30pm we will again invite families to join the coaches in Westmount Park (the field behind the playground) for games. Bring your picnic dinner and join in the fun!

What a week it was! 

Friday, July 15 kicked off the weekend with our theme day:  BEACH DAY AT THE DOLPHINS!  Fun was had by all and we look forward to our next theme day on Friday, July 29:  PIRATES of the WESTMOUNT DOLPHINS. 

Sunday July 17 was a dive meet at home.  Westmount welcomed Windermere and in a show of force we won the day!  Congratulations to our team for their fabulous dives and team spirit!  A huge thank you to our volunteers and to the contributors to our "breakfast" concession table. Our divers will be heading out to Pointe Claire Village Pool this Sunday so please SIGN UP YOUR DIVERS!

Last night Westmount welcomed Valois Pool of Pointe Claire.  Our two large teams competed fiercely all evening but in the end, Valois reigned victorious with 548 points over Westmount's 508 points. It was a great effort from all of our Dolphins!  Way to swim!  We want to thank all of you for your contributions to the concessions table and to thank all of the dedicated volunteers who came out in force to support the team and the swimmers!  If you are missing your pans or plates from your food contributions, just ask a volunteer or coach at practice as they are in the storage room on deck. Our next swim meet will take place at Viking Pool also in Pointe Claire so SIGN UP YOUR SWIMMERS and SIGN UP TO BE AN OFFICIAL!

We have been looking through the results of the last couple of swim meets to see if any records have been broken.  Although we have seen some fast swimming, so far only one record has been surpassed:  a second place record in 13-14 girls breast stroke was clocked at 38.10 by Zoe Immer during our meet against Beaurepaire back on July 6. Congratulations Zoe!  We will keep checking for records but if you think you might be close to meeting or surpassing a record TAKE A GLANCE AT THE RECORD BOARD and keep working towards your goals:  your name could be enshrined there too!

We also want to update you on the upcoming "ATOM" WATERPOLO TOURNAMENT this weekend!! 

It is being hosted at Beaconsfield Heights pool in Beaconsfield.

Please find the SCHEDULE FOR THE TOURNAMENT. Players should arrive at 8:00am so that they are ready to deal with any pre-game logistics.  We encourage all Dolphins to come out as spectators and encourage the team and wear your Dolphins colours!

What a week it has been!

Sunday morning, with a change of venue, our divers shivered in the rain at Lakeside.  Our divers, though few in number improved their skills and had some good finishes, but with so many Lakeside divers in every age group, their team won the day.  We hope more of our divers will participate at the meets to help improve our Dolphins overall scores: DIVERS CAN SIGN UP HERE FOR THE OUR HOME MEET ON SUNDAY!  If you are not on the diving team but want to see what diving is all about, come out to the pool on Sunday between 8am and 12noon to watch the meet or HELP OUT AS A VOLUNTEER!

Last night our swimmers made their way out to Lakeshore Pool. We had a smaller team than presented themselves at our home meet last week, and we were trounced 576 points for Lakeshore to 480 points for Westmount. Swimmers, encourage your parents to sign you up to meets as we are strength in numbers:  we can out-swim and out-cheer our rivals when we all work together as a team! SWIM TEAM MEMBERS MAY SIGN UP NOW FOR OUR NEXT MEET AT HOME JULY 20!

FRIDAY THEME DAY:  BEACH DAY AT THE DOLPHINS!!!
Tomorrow, all day in all disciplines it will be BEACH DAY!  So get ready for some beach-themed activities during your practices.  If you have some beach-y attire you want to wear to practice, by all means, we want to see it!

WATERPOLO TOURNAMENTS
The Atom and Bantam Water Polo Tournaments will soon be upon us.  We are calling on all Dolphins, 10 years old or younger as of January 1, 2016 to participate in the Atom Tournament on Saturday July 23 and all Dolphins 12 years old or younger as of January1, 2016 to participate in the Bantam Tournament on July 30.  If you are interested in either one of these events SIGN UP HERE!  The Water Polo tournaments are a lot of fun and we want to ensure we enter a team in both of these exciting tournaments.

Here is an update of the team's activities this week:

Last Sunday morning our divers faced Dixie Pool.  We had a good showing however Dixie won the day.  Sign up is on-going for the next diving meet on Sunday July 10 at Montreal West Aquatic Club.  Go to the Diving Sign up Page on our website if you are dive team member who wants to participate in this meet. Deadline to sign up is Friday July 8 at midnight.  We will again need volunteers at the judges and scoring tables.  Please sign up to volunteer on the same page above as soon as you can (no deadline).

Last night the Dolphins Swim Team swam to a narrow victory over Beaurepaire Pool with a nail-biter score of Westmount 523 points to Beaurepaire 521 points.  We look forward to meeting them again at Section Finals.  Sign up for next Wednesday's meet at Lakeshore Pool in Pointe Claire is on-going. Swim Team members who want to participate may go to the Swim Meet Sign Up Page on our website. Deadline to sign up is Monday July 11 at midnight.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers and officials last night!  Your efforts helped to make the evening a great success!  It was a long evening and you kept to your posts and contributed to a quality meet for the kids.  We hope you enjoyed it and will encourage other parents to get involved in the Dolphins in this important way! 

We also want to thank all of you who contributed to the delicious bake sale last night.  We are a little more than half-way to covering the cost of this season's ribbons so hats off to all!  If you left behind your pan, container or plate, don't worry, these items are collected (but not cleaned) and are in the storage room. Just ask a volunteer or coach to help you find it next time you are at practice.

There were a few lost items left behind:  a couple of water-bottles and a towel, which can be picked up from the lifeguard office lost and found. 

A reminder to Water Polo players that all groups can practice Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday!

JUST FOR THE LADIES:
On Tuesday July 12 during the 8am-9am swim team practice a representative from Jolyn Swimwear will be on hand.  This swimwear is very fashion-forward yet sporty enough to be subjected to all the rigors of aquatics sports (everything stays in place!).  The size range will tend to fit girls 11 years and older (Moms are girls too!) and swimsuits are available in both one-piece and two-piece styles. Check out their website: Jolyn Swimwear  come to the pool during the 8am to 9am swim team practice if you want to take advantage of this great opportunity.
